Solutions to End Human Trafficking
Men, women and children are constantly being trafficked and sent into unimanagible horrors. There are many solutions to this problem, some of which are obvious and soem of which have been already enacted. For example, in the United States a law called the Trafficking Victims Protective Act which protects trafficking victims that are subjected to illegal acts of labor i.e sex slavery and which protects them if their captivity entailed them to take part in illegal activity or a crime. Not only that, but many countries are trying to make it clear that they care and that they want their citizens to care to by informing them about the issue through “...public awareness campaigns, addressing root causes, and conducting law enforcement-related or border security activities..."("Trafficking in Persons"). But adding a view laws against trafficking is not enough. These laws that these countries pass need to actually be taken seriously by its citizens. Other solutions to ending human trafficking/sex trafficking/ child sex slavery is informing both girls, boys, women and men about the dangers and ways in which traffickers try lure possible victims. Another possible solution is locking up the pimps and traffickers. Many countries allow pimps and traffickers to run brothels but the governments of these countries don’t care to look into these establishments to see if the women/ men there are there by their own will. Also the authorities- many times in different countries authorities will investigate brothels, prostitution rings, prostitutes etc to find out whether or not the people are there by their own will or to see if the people there are underage. Authorities in countries where this problem is rampant but ignored need to also target the worst type of trafficking, the trafficking of very young girls and boys. Governments also need to weed out corrupt police officers and officials from there forces. They could possibly be the ones protecting the terrible people who run trades and brothels using kidnapped peoples. Governments and civilians need to be aware, take notice and make a move.
